A few years ago when I first decided to make music my primary focus, it was an adventure that took me on a magic carpet ride, propelling me from one cloud to another. Some gave way to rain. Some became sundogs, and some just cleared to sunshine. Anyone who thinks doing music is not like leaping out of a plane (with a parachute) does not really understand. And how can anyone of us know until we attempt to do the new and unknown.

Since releasing my first CD, there have been a series of steps that continue to lead me towards a convergence of music and sound healing. I am feeling much more reward in looking at sound as a service rather than an occupation, and part of that has to do with my new found love of working with the quartz-crystal bowls. The bowls have a way of permeating the boundaries of the unconscious and heart, allowing people to feel and hear their own inner voice, and the temple of their bodies. Hearing the bowls goes beyond words. Only people who have experienced and heard them understand the experience. The Tibetan brass bowls are certainly relatives of the experience, but there is something about the crystal bowls, for me, that enhance inward clarity. As Jonathan Goldman says, sound plus intention equals healing. That is exactly what the bowls have led me to understand.

I have begun to make music with the bowls as well. Some of this occurred with the guided meditation CD, Journey Into the Mind, but I am also doing private sound healing sessions, and am beginning to do workshops with people as well as incorporate them into performances. The feedback I am receiving from people has been enthusiastic and inspiring. When people hear the bowls for the first time, they truly do not know what they are hearing. But then they follow the sound, arrive by the bowls and wait to be told something so they can begin to understand linearly the experience they are having with their hearts and bodies.

My songwriting and voice are going through similar transformation. My voice is becoming an instrument of change, as are the songs that come through. We are in the midst of a remarkable time; a time when the old ways of being in this culture and on this Earth are dissolving, and yet the new ways are not quite here yet. We are literally living in the chaos of the in-between. My mission is to bridge the way with songs of the heart, and converge music as a sound highway to help bridge us to where we have been to where we are going.
